How I Got Here

It all began in October of 2012 when I first picked up a crochet hook! As some of you may know, I was a New York City police officer. In 2012 I was assigned to a deserted post in Staten Island after Hurricane Sandy had devastated parts of NYC. Long 12-18 hour days in a van on a deserted street with my peers, I needed something to do to keep me from going crazy! So I watched a few how to crochet videos on You Tube and well...here I am! I began making custom hats for friends and to play on my name Alida...A Lid As You Wish was born. I have certainly come a long way since making my first hat and have incorporated other crafts as well! Crafting and crocheting have been a great stress relief for me! I hope you enjoy my hand made items as much as I love to create them!
